Getting Started

Introduction

Welcome to the official MatchMusic developer and partner documentation. This resource is designed for organizations, developers, and product teams who integrate with MatchMusic's B2B services — including our White Label platform and public API suite.

Whether you are building a branded music distribution product for your clients, embedding streaming and rights management capabilities into your own platform, or automating catalog operations at scale, this documentation provides everything you need to get started and succeed.

What is MatchMusic?

MatchMusic is a best-in-class music IP platform that unifies content management, digital distribution, rights administration, income tracking, analytics, and royalty accounting in a single, powerful environment.

Trusted by record labels, distributors, artist management companies, and Merlin members worldwide, MatchMusic brings enterprise-grade infrastructure to music businesses of all sizes — enabling them to operate more efficiently, scale faster, and make smarter decisions backed by reliable data.

Our B2B offering extends these capabilities to partner organizations through two primary services:

  • White Label Platform — A fully customizable, co-branded version of the MatchMusic platform that can be deployed under your own brand identity.
  • API Services — A comprehensive RESTful API that gives your development team direct, programmatic access to MatchMusic's core features and data.

White Label Platform

The MatchMusic White Label service allows music companies, distributors, and technology providers to offer their clients a fully branded digital music management experience — powered by MatchMusic's infrastructure, but presented entirely under your own visual identity.

Key Capabilities

Brand Customization Configure your logo, color palette, typography, and domain. Your clients interact exclusively with your brand — MatchMusic operates invisibly in the background as the technology layer.

Multi-Tenant Architecture Onboard unlimited sub-accounts under your master account. Each client receives an isolated, secure workspace with customizable permissions and user roles.

Distribution Pipeline Access MatchMusic's global distribution network covering 200+ digital service providers (DSPs) including Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music, Tidal, and dozens of regional platforms — all delivered under your brand.

Rights and Royalty Management Manage mechanical, performance, and neighboring rights with full transparency. Configure custom royalty splits, advance recoupment tracking, and automated statement generation for your clients.

Analytics Dashboard Provide your clients with real-time streaming analytics, territory breakdowns, trend reports, and revenue forecasts — all white-labeled and embedded within your product.

Custom Pricing and Fee Structures Set your own subscription tiers, per-release fees, and commission models. MatchMusic handles the infrastructure; you define the commercial relationship with your clients.

API Services

The MatchMusic API enables developers to integrate MatchMusic's functionality directly into their own applications, workflows, and platforms. Built on REST principles, the API offers predictable resource-oriented URLs, JSON request and response bodies, and standard HTTP response codes.

What You Can Build

  • Automated catalog ingestion pipelines — Ingest audio files, metadata, and artwork programmatically without manual intervention.
  • Custom reporting dashboards — Pull streaming, revenue, and rights data into your own BI tools and analytics infrastructure.
  • Rights management automation — Register, update, and query rights records at scale using our Rights API endpoints.
  • Distribution orchestration — Trigger releases, manage takedowns, and update metadata across all DSPs via a single API call.
  • Financial data integration — Sync royalty statements, advance balances, and payment records directly into your accounting or ERP systems.
  • Partner portal development — Build artist-facing portals or label tools that surface MatchMusic data under your own UX.

Authentication

All API requests are authenticated using Bearer tokens issued via OAuth 2.0. Each token is scoped to specific resources and can be configured for read-only or read-write access, ensuring fine-grained security control.

Authorization: Bearer <your_access_token>

Rate Limits and SLAs

The MatchMusic API is designed for high-availability production environments. Enterprise partners benefit from dedicated rate limit tiers, uptime SLAs, and priority support channels. Standard rate limits apply to development and sandbox environments.

Every B2B partner is assigned a dedicated integration engineer and account manager. We provide onboarding support, technical reviews, and ongoing advisory as your platform scales.

Compliance and Security

MatchMusic is built to meet the compliance requirements of the global music industry, including DDEX standards, GDPR, and major DSP technical delivery specifications. Your integration inherits these compliance frameworks automatically.
